PROJECT 1A : ON-SITE SKETCHING
For Project 1A, I am required to produce 4 best sketches of 2 interior and 2 exterior spaces. in order to do so, I am required to engage with the site I chose by experiencing it through a spatial sequence. While moving in sequence, I am required to record my observation and perception of the spaces and the human activities of the spaces I chose through free-hand sketches. That sequence must include both exterior and interior. Besides, i have to capture several aspects of the built environment within the site I chose to demonstrate my understanding towards the space.
Through this project, i have learnt and understand the notion of the space in architecture. Besides, my visualization and sketching skills has been developed through observation and perception of the site I chose.
PROJECT 1B : TONAL VALUES
For project 1B, I am required to produce four A4- sized sketches of four variations of a tonal value sketch. We can vary the sketches in the hatching type and medium. Examples of hatching types include one-directional (hatching), cross-hatching, stippling and scribbling. We can also use different medium for this project such as pen, pencil & color pencil or mixed media.
Through this project, I understand the notion of space and detailing's in architecture and objects. Furthermore, I have learnt design communication skills in various tonal and depth values as well as techniques of hatching in different mediums.
PROJECT 2A : ORTHOGRAPHIC PROJECTIONS (PLAN, SECTIONS, ELEVATIONS)
In the first part of project 2A, we were required to include sufficient evidence to show that we are competent in a range of architectural drafting skills. The evidence should be presented by drafting out architectural drawing on butter paper as the evidence for ths assignment which consists of floor plans, front, back, both left and right elevations of the given building and two cross-section of the building showing the floor and roof construction. Furthermore, all those evidence may be produced in pencil and ink it up for final submission.
Through this project, I learnt how to draft in modern and tradisional method of architectural drawing, record and present clear and legible architectural information manually and identify and apply architectural conventions and symbols. In addition, I learnt how to apply line weight, line types, line quality and hand lettering.
PROJECT 2B : AXONOMETRIC PROJECTION
For project 2B, we were required to produce an axonometric projection of the given building on an A2 paper butter paper and finally inked on an A2-sized tracing paper with the scale of 1: 75. In this project, we will be learning on how to execute an axonometric projection by generating partial of an external and a sectional (internal) axonometric of the given house.
Through this project, I am able to express the spatial ideas and architectural detail in three dimension in the format of an axonometric projection. Furthermore, I have a further understanding of what axonometric are and the application of it for presentation purpose.
PROJECT 2C : PERSPECTIVES
For project 2C which was the last project of this module, we were required to construct one exterior which is two-point perspective followed by one sectional interior perspective which is the one-point perspective. We were required to composed both one-point and two-point perspective in one A2 tracing paper after enlarged both drawings into a bigger scale.
Through this project, I am able to express the spatial ideas and architectural detail in three dimension, in the format of one- point perspective and two- point perspective. Besides, through this project I have a better understanding on what perspectives are and how they were apply to the design process and presentation.
