PROJECT 1 : EXPLORING THE ENVIRONMENTAL POETICS: TAYLOR'S "GATEWAY"
Project 1 is a group task where we were required to form a group of 3 people. My group members are Tan Shing Yeou and Liew Chung Hooi. For this project, we were required to design a structure within an open area applying ideas of environmental sustainability in architectural design. Besides, the structure itself should provide both shelter and suitable environment for users. Furthermore, there are a few requirements needed to be fulfilled to design the structure. For instance, the structure have to serve two main purposes which one is to serve as students' activities areas and another one is serve as security surveillance. Also, it has to be built within 300 m³ in terms of its volume and minimum 2 storeys high. In addition, for this project, there is no restriction in terms of the design as well as the materials used or the budget constraints. However, the structure has to be responsive to the site as well as the existing context and access requirements should be taken in consideration of the design.
For this project, the submission requirement is that in a group of 3, we were required to come up with a site analysis board consists of site plan of scale 1: 200, plans and sections of minimum scale 1: 20, few diagrams showing environmental response, one key interior perspective demonstrating poetics generated by relationship between environment and architectural space and a physical model of scale 1:20.
Through this project, I am able to identify and analyze environmental qualities and contextual needs of a site and able to apply ideas of environmental sustainability which gained from environment sustainability design (ESD) and building science 1 to design the structure.

PROJECT 2: NATURE APPRECIATION CENTER: GATEWAY TO ROYAL BELUM
Project 2, part A is a group task where we were required to form a group within our tutorial group. In groups, we were required to carry a thorough research on the subject and site analysis. The selected site for this project is located at Pulau Banding, Gerik, Perak which is a 243-hectare man-made island located within the majestic Temenggor Lake and the island sits amidst the 130 million year-old Royal Belum Rainforest, known for nature based activities such as fishing, bird watching, camping and visiting orang asli settlements. Firstly, we were to identify and analyze the environmental and social needs of the site that lead us to formulation of the design programme and contextual responses. Then, in a group we were required to carry out a thorough investigation on specific architecture projects that lead to comprehension of the design programme and sustainable architecture. In order to carry out a thorough investigations on specific architecture projects, we were encouraged to refer or study existing examples through literature, own observation and experience.
The submission requirement from project 2, part A is in tutorial group, we have to come up with a slide for macro analysis and a site analysis board for micro analysis. For macro analysis slides, we have to include the history, social and culture, politic or economy, climate and geography and the regulation of the site in to the slides whereas for the site analysis board, there are 6 types of information needed to put in the board. They are, vegetation, site and contour, social and culture, visceral, materiality and circulation. Moreover, we were also told to propose two design implications that are responsive to the analysis that we have done earlier.
Through this project, I have a better understanding of the selected site, Pulau Banding, Gerik, Perak and with that I am able to design and create architectural spaces with consideration of environmental needs and create different kind of users' experiences within a simple building design in open landscape.
The following were attanched with the slides and the site analysis board :

Project 2, part B is an individual task and is the last project for this module where we were required to design a Nature Appreciation Center (NAC) to develop awareness of environmental sustainability in architectural design on the selected site, Pulau Banding, Gerik, Perak. For this project, we were required to design a Nature Appreciation Center (NAC) accommodating several related functions such as exhibition, learning and recreation in an open landscape. In addition, we were to develop our own design concept for the design based on the site study we done previously so that we can generate a design which is responsive to the surrounding context architecturally and contextually. Furthermore, there were a few requirements stated to be fulfilled in order to design the NAC. The requirements are the floor area of the NAC has to be within 800 sqm, and it have to provide a mixed-use facility that accommodates 7 spaces. The spaces are the nature gallery, auditorium, visitor administrative area, documentation area (archive), observation deck, cafeteria and lastly the children explorative area. Moreover, in our design, we were also required to take consideration of disabled (wheelchair), public and private access as well as pedestrian access into and around the site.
For project 2 submission, individually, we were required to produce 6 A1 panels consists of site plan of scale 1: 200, plans, sections, elevations of scale 1: 100 to indicate strong relationship with the physical environment, some diagrams showing site analysis and design implication and 2 key interior and exterior perspective demonstrating poetics generated by relationship between environment and architectural space. Besides of producing 6 A1 panels, we were also required to construct a final physical model at a scale of 1: 100.
Through this project, I am able to apply ideas of environmental sustainability in design and able to design and create architectural spaces with consideration of environmental poetics in relation to the basic natural context and existing built context which impact on users’ experiences. Also, I am able to produce both 2D and 3D drawings, modeling and verbal presentation to communicate and visualize architectural design and ideas based on clustered spatial typology.
